Ruth Henrietta Ebert Wade, formerly of Beaumont, Texas, passed away Monday October 16, 2023, at Carriage Inn Independent Living Facility in Katy, Texas. Ruth was born in Schertz, Texas, and then moved to Seguin,Texas, until she graduated from high school. She attended Texas Lutheran College and graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, with a degree in Education. She began her teaching career in LaMarque, Texas, teaching third grade. It was in LaMarque that she met Emil Denson "Pete" Wade. They were married in 1951 in Seguin, Texas. Devoted to each other, they were married for 65 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Ebert, a brother, Henry Clarence Ebert, and her husband, Pete Wade. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Chachere and husband, Jerry, of Opelousas, Louisiana, Julie Stokes and husband, Randy, of San Antonio, Texas, and Sally Switzer and husband, David, of Katy, Texas. Ruth cherished her six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Ruth loved children and resumed her teaching career at All Saints Episcopal School, as well as teaching Sunday School at FUMC for many years. Ruth always had a ready smile and a kind word for young and old, alike. A memorial service for Ruth will be held at First United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas, on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The family suggests any memorial gift for Ruth be given to the charity of your choice or to First United Methodist Methodist Church, 701 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
