Ruth Welsch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zacherl Funeral Home - Fond du Lac on Nov. 4, 2025.
Ruth Ann Welsch, 88, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025 with her children at her bedside. Born on November 26, 1936, in Calvary Station, she was the eldest of five children of Paul and Sally Wagner.
Ruth graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac and built a successful career in accounting, working throughout the Upper Midwest before concluding her professional life with Grande Cheese in Lomira. Her attention to detail and strong work ethic earned her the respect and friendship of many colleagues over the years.
Ruth married Donald Welsch, with whom she shared many years until his passing in 1989. They had three children - Terry Karet, Michael Welsch, and Julie (Kevin) McCullough - who were the pride and joy of her life. Ruth's devotion to family continued through the generations, and she found immense joy in her grandchildren, Kelly and Michaela Karet, Sally Welsch, and her great-granddaughter, Kennedy Roehner.
Ruth's siblings include Eugene "Pedro" (Judy) Wagner, Janet (Franz) Burg, Jim (Jane) Wagner, and Deb (Bob) Korducki. She cherished each of them deeply and took great pride in her large, loving, and mischievous family.
Ruth will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering care for those around her. She loved tending her flower garden, working on puzzles, and cheering on the Brewers and Packers. A talented athlete in her youth, Ruth was an outstanding baseball player and carried that same competitive spirit and enthusiasm for games throughout her life - whether it was cards around the kitchen table or a family board game night.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents, Sally and Paul Wagner; and her sister, Janet Burg.
Above all, Ruth treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Her gentle humor, steadfast love, and thoughtful presence enriched every family gathering.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2026 to honor Ruth's memory and the many lives she touched. Her family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will continue in the hearts of all who knew her.
