Ruth “Ruthie” Wilkinson 76, went to be with Jesus on January 26, 2026. She was born on September 3, 1949 in Syracuse, New York to George and Eva Oertel. She moved to Sebring, FL, at age 8 with her parents and brother. She then moved to Tallahassee, FL to attend FSU. She worked as a bookkeeper for Pittsburgh Paint and Glass, where she met the love of her life Bob, they were married in April of 1981. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grammy. When her children were growing up she spent her time as a homemaker and stay at home mom. She homeschooled her children and helped her husband run their family business’.
Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she would show o picture or talk about them any chance she could get. She loved to attend their orchestra performance’s and cheer them on in their sporting events. Being with her family was her greatest joy. Ruthie’s love for the Lord was evident in everything she did, from volunteering at A Women’s Pregnancy Center to being a faithful member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. She served in many areas at her church, from children’s ministry to secretary and bookkeeper. She always went above and beyond to show the Love of her Savior.
Ruthie is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Bob, her son James (wife Lindsey) of Havana, FL her daughter Jennifer Register (husband Ryan) of Tallahassee, FL and her 4 grandchildren Gage, Riley, Hadley and Palmer, her brother John (wife Anne), Niece Joanna (husband Jason) and 2 great nieces Ansley and Ashlyn, and great nephew John Luke.
She was proceeded in death by her father George Oertel and her mother Eva Tribbett. Her celebration of life we be held at 11:00am on February 3, 2026 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. The attire is casual with joyful colors.
In lieu of flower, the family asks for memorial donations be made to A Women’s Pregnancy Center.
