Ruth Dorothy Yocum

Ruth Dorothy Yocum, 93, of St. Thomas, PA., died Wednesday, November 5th, 2025. She was born in Wehrkirchen, Germany on December 29, 1931, the daughter of August and Emma Wirszing. She was married to the late Maurice (Sarge) Yocum for 38 years.

In the 1970's Ruth and Maurice owned Lakeview Bar and Restaurant in Fannettsburg and later Yocum's Gasthaus Tavern in McConnellsburg. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and VFW in Mercersburg, and the St. Thomas Legion. She was also a member of the Ballroom Dance Club in Hagerstown. Ruth always enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, playing poker and pinochle.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and a sister.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Bill Yocum of McConnellsburg, PA. and his partner Connie, and Ray Yocum and his wife Brenda of Wilmington, NC., two granddaughters, Amy (Yocum) Ferrell of Myrtle Beach, SC., and Jill (Yocum) Hawkins of Quantico, VA., and six great-grandchildren; Connor, Lily, and Thomas Hawkins and Claire, Luke, and Emily Ferrell.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:00PM followed by a brief service at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas Pa. A graveside service will be held following the service at the St. Thomas Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Medical Center, ATTN: Long Term Care Activity Fund, McConnellsburg Pa, 17233.
