Ruthie M. Simmons

1928 - 2023

Ruthie M. Simmons was born on April 2, 1928. She was called home by God on December 19, 2023, at the age of 95. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church where her late husband Rev. Otha Simmons was the founding, Minister. Ruthie was employed at the Louisiana Home and Rehab Center of New Orleans until her retirement at the age of 65. She is survived by her 2 daughters: Yolanda A. Simmons and Gaynell Goudeau, and one son Alvin Simmons. Also survived by one sister Gladys Mogan, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her late husband Rev. Otha Simmons and sons Otha Simmons, Jr. and Anthony Simmons. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70126 for 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Earl Blackwell, Jr. officiating.
