Ryan Earl Fleming, 42 of Fort Sumner passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024. Ryan was born November 18, 1982 in Hinsdale, Illinois to the home of James and Marlene Fleming. He grew up in Chicago where he attended and graduated from Brother Rice High School in 2001. Following graduation Ryan served four years in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he joined the Portales, NM Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT. He later worked for Superior Ambulance Service in Roswell and Care Flight in Portales, NM. He also worked for Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM. He was currently employed with De Baca Family Practice Clinic in Fort Sumner.
Ryan married Kyla Walraven on July 4, 2015 in Fort Sumner, NM. He enjoyed spending time with his children, and fishing. He also enjoyed building guns, and was a Taekwondo Black Belt. His favorite sports team was the Chicago Blackhawks.
Ryan Earl is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Angeline and James Robert Cook, his paternal grandparents Earl Russell and Margaret Fleming, and a nephew Evan James Fleming.
Survivors include his wife, Kyla Fleming of Fort Sumner, four children Alexis Fleming of Portales, Anthony Fleming, August Fleming, and Carsyn Fleming all of Fort Sumner, his parents James Edward and Marlene Fleming of Chicago, one brother Thomas Fleming and his wife Sherry of Aurora, IL and their children Cooper and Lily Fleming. His in-laws TJ and Lisa Walraven of Fort Sumner, NM, a brother- in- law Wade Walraven and his wife Samantha of Malaga, New Mexico, two nephews Wyatt and Hudson Walraven. Also surviving is his former wife Nikki Stokes Fleming of Portales, NM along with his two best friends Scott Candelaria of Rio Rancho and Raymond Kozicki of Tinley Park, Illinois. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, coworkers and friends.
Viewing will be Monday, November 25, 2024 from 1 to 6 pm at Chavez Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church with Father Sotero A Sena officiating. Urn bearer will be Scott Candelaria.
