Obituary of Ryan Dominic Hahto

Age 46, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and formerly of Las Vegas, NV, and New Zealand, passed from this life unexpectedly early Friday morning, September 12, 2025.

Ryan was born on April 21, 1979, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He attended Greenbriar Elementary School in Chicago Heights until he moved with his family to Flossmoor in 1988. He graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Class of 1997, where he was a member of the golf team. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business from Illinois State University.

Ryan was the loving and devoted father of Hayden Alexandra Hahto; beloved son of Patricia (nee Fiorenzo) and Peter Hahto; and cherished brother of Jay Dominic Hahto. Ryan will also be missed by his aunts and uncles, Mary Louise (Maury) Valdarchi, Terry (Janet) Fiorenzo, Tom (Toni) Hahto and Lisa (Tom) Skowronski as well as several cousins.

In 2004, Ryan's career led him to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked for the Las Vegas Review Journal in advertising sales. In 2014, Ryan moved to Auckland, New Zealand, with his wife, Holly, and their young daughter, Hayden, returning to the states in 2017 and settling in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he was employed as a medical equipment sales representative.

Ryan was a car enthusiast and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He played ice hockey and baseball in his younger years and golf throughout his life. He loved to travel. One of his favorites was a long-awaited trip to Finland in 2012 with his parents and younger brother, Jay, where the family met many Hahto relatives. Although he loved spending time with his family, nothing compared to the time spent with his beloved daughter, Hayden. He and his girlfriend of eight years, Cheryl, spent many special moments together. Ryan was a fiercely loyal friend to many.

Visitation and prayers for Ryan will be Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd), Joliet. A prayer service will begin Saturday morning, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with committal prayers and interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Steger/Park Forest, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any monetary gifts be written to Patricia Hahto, 220 Honors Drive, Shorewood, IL 60404, for Hayden Hahto's benefit.
