Ryan Hanigan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Click Funeral Home - Farragut Chapel on Mar. 30, 2026.
Dr. Ryan Hanigan lived life with unmistakable intensity and passion. He showed up fully, loved deeply, and had a remarkable way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories. He didn't do anything halfway. He lived big, laughed often, and made sure the people around him laughed along.

Ryan was fiercely devoted to his family. He loved his wife, Kellee, and their sons Jaxon and Miles with everything he had, and spoke about them with constant pride. They were the center of his world, and everything he did was rooted in making life better for them.

That instinct to lift others up defined so much of who Ryan was. As a physical therapist, he was deeply committed to helping people improve their quality of life. That included his time teaching and mentoring students, passing that care to generations to come. He carried that same passion onto the soccer field and basketball court, coaching his sons and their teams with energy, encouragement, and a desire to help every player grow.

Ryan also had a love of bringing people together. In the kitchen, he was always experimenting and always making more food than necessary, because for him, it was never about just the meal, it was about sharing, generosity and making sure no one left without feeling taken care of.

He was a gifted storyteller with a knack for embellishment and exaggeration and had a natural humor and a love of laughter that was impossible to miss.

A loyal sports fan for many teams, in particular the San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Cardinals, Ryan's passion was unmatched. He brought that same energy to the golf course where he loved to compete but cared more that everyone walked away having a great time.

Ryan passed away on March 24, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, John Hanigan. He is survived by his mother, Sharon Hanigan, his loving wife, Kellee, his sons, Jaxon and Miles, his son, Dane Smith, his sister Jennifer Hanigan, his brother, Darin Hanigan and his wife Bobbi and their children Ashley (Michael) and Hailey and many extended family members who will miss him deeply.

A rosary will be held on April 8 at 10:30 am followed by a Mass at 11:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Knoxville, TN. A service will also be held in Lincoln, NE at St. Joesph's Catholic Church on April 24th. A rosary will be held at 10:30 am followed by a Mass at 11:00 am.

If you knew Ryan, you don't just remember him, you remember the moments he created. The kind that makes you laugh out loud or catch your breath because they meant something. Those stories and memories will stay with us forever.
