Ryan Macik Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasik Funeral Home - Shelby Township on Sep. 30, 2023.
Ryan grew up as a so called "Army Brat". He was born in Fort Hood, Texas and then moved to Fort Knox, Kentucky all before he was one and a half years old. We then moved overseas to Germany where we stayed for three years. Ryan and his dad spent weekends "volksmarching" which were 5k fitness walks for which they earned medals. We'd like to believe this was the inspiration for Ryan's lifelong love of running and competing in marathons. We then moved to the Presidio of San Francisco, back to Fort Knox and finally, at the age of 10 we were able to move to Michigan. We could finally establish roots and forge lifelong friendships. Ryan attended high school and college here eventually earning his B. A. From Western Michigan University. Ryan had a passion for Detroit and all things Michigan. Ryan's other passion was his work as Vice President of Aadvanced Machinery, where he honed an encyclopedic knowledge of all things related to machines and parts. The only thing Ryan knew better than machine parts was Nike gym shoes and he may have had more gym shoes than machine parts!
Ryan is survived by his parents; John & Janet, brother; Patrick and husband of Katy Macik. He was predeceased by his sisters; Kathryn & Kimberly. He was also survived by many other loving family members.
Sadly, many of you were not aware that Ryan became ill and suffered debilitating and severe seizures. It was extremely frustrating as medical professionals could neither identify the cause of the seizures nor provide medication allowing any relief to Ryan. This went on for over a year and a half until Ryan eventually succumbed to a final seizure this past weekend.
We will forever miss Ryan's warm smile, bright eyes and sharp sense of humor. No seizure can rob us of our fond memories and love of Ryan J. Macik who will live forever in our hearts and minds!
Our only comfort during this difficult period is that Ryan is no longer suffering and is finally at peace!
Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 from 2 pm until 4 pm Memorial Service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (N. of 22 Mile Rd-Shelby Twp.)
