Lt. Col. John Macik, Jr. US Army (R), loving husband, father, and proud veteran of the United States Army passed away on December 17, 2025. The son of John and Janet (Fitzmaurice), John grew up in Kenilworth, New Jersey. He was born on April 27, 1952.

While at Milwaukee School of Engineering, John was an ROTC student at University of Wisconsin. Upon completion of his Bachelor's of Industrial Management Degree, John entered the US Army as an Armor Officer. John went on to complete his Master's Degree from Central Michigan University earning a Master's of Science Degree.

John highly valued his military service and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As part of his 23 years of service John earned the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forced Reserve Medal (1st hourglass device), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Expert Infantryman Badge as well as the Armor Officer Order of St. George Medal for exceptional service in the Armor Division of the US Army.

Upon retirement from the military he went on to work for 23 years in the private sector as a military contractor.

John is predeceased by his parents, daughters Kathryn and Kimberly (1981) and his son Ryan (2023). He is survived by his loving wife Janet Macik (Angarola), of 50 years, and his son Patrick. John is the oldest of 7 siblings, Michael Macik, Paul (Janet) Macik, Mark (Cheryl) Macik, Michele Macik, Mary Macik, and Matthew (Maria) Macik. He is further survived by his sisters in law, Carol Angarola, Joann Angarola, and his brothers in law, Peter (Lynn) Angarola, and Dan Angarola, the late Michael Angarola, and many nieces and nephews.

His loved ones will remember his sense of humor, his strong will, and his love for his family. John will be remembered for his loyalty and service to his country, his faith, and his willingness to help others.

Memorial visitation Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 3-8 PM at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 mile Rd), Shelby Twp. Instate Monday January 5, 2026 beginning at 9:30 AM until 10:00 Funeral Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church 18201 23 Mile Road (corner of Romeo Plank), Macomb Township. Burial will take place, with full military honors, at 12:30 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Road (w. of Holly Road), Holly, Michigan at 12:30 PM on Tuesday January 6, 2026
