Olympia, Washington - Ryan Michael Thies passed away on March 14, 2022; he was 23. Ryan is survived by his brother Harper Thies, his mother Kate Greene, and his father Marty Thies, all of Olympia. Ryan was funny and smart; he had a warm heart and a kind spirit; he loved his family and friends. In his last weeks, Ryan resided in sobriety at an Oxford House in Federal Way, where he was working toward his goals. His tragic death is directly related to the current opioid and fentanyl crisis. Marty and Kate, I am so sorry that you lost Ryan, I cannot even imagine the pain. I only knew Ryan from the nurse's room at Olympia High School, where I found him to be bright, persuasive, persistent, and polite. Really great qualities! I am so sorry for your loss.
