Ryan M. Woods, a devoted husband, incredible father, loving family man, passionate coach and enthusiastic traveler, was unexpectedly called home on Sunday, January 11th at the age of 43.He was surrounded by his family and friends and is a hero to us all as an organ donor. Though his time here on earth was far too short, his impact was profound and lasting.
Born on Dec. 2, 1982, to Ed and Michelle Woods in Jackson, MI., Ryan lived life with energy and purpose. A graduate of Lumen Christi High School and Ferris State University majoring in Sports and Recreation management. He was recently hired in at Consumers Energy with a supportive team. He was a loving basketball coach on and off the court. Ryan was more than a teacher of the game-he was a mentor, role model, and steady source of encouragement. Whether he was jumping for a timeout on the sidelines, or putting his arm around his players, he believed in building character as much as skill.
Above all else, Ryan was a family man. He was a devoted husband and best friend to Lindsay for almost 25 years. Ryan was an incredible father to Quentin and Kendall coaching, encouraging and guiding them as well with his incredible sense of calm and humor. His family was his greatest joy, his proudest accomplishment, and the center of his world. Whether planning the next family trip, spur of the moment out of town day trips, golf adventures with his friends, or a Detroit Pistons and Lions game, he believed the best moments were meant to be shared.
Ryan is survived by his wife Lindsay, his children Quentin and Kendall, his parents Ed and Michelle, his brother Chris and his amazing "Framily" community and friends.
A celebration of Ryan's life will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at The Potter Center (2111 Emmons Road, Jackson) from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The family asks instead of flowers, please make a donation to the children's GoFund me account. Though his journey ended too soon, the love he gave, the lives he shaped and the memories he created will continue on forever in our hearts.

Ed, Michelle, Chris, I could not believe this when I saw it. We had the privilege of talking with Ryan and his family at the Courtyard by Marriott here in Jackson just a year ago, when they were having a family night out.
