PFC Ryan Allan Yarter, age 19, of Carthage passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 in an automobile accident at Ft. Liberty Army Base.
Born May 28, 2004 in Moore County, he was a son of Rob and Lena Rivera Yarter. He grew up in the Boy Scouts and was part of Troop 7 where he earned his Eagle Scout. A 2022 graduate of Union Pines High School he excelled in Football, Baseball, Cross Country and Track. After graduating he joined the Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was 91 Bravo (Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic).
Ryan grew up in Bible Tabernacle Church with his family and in recent years became a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and was an expert marksman. Ryan loved his family and was close to all of them.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife Hannah Russell Yarter and their son Russell Allan Yarter (due January 2024); sister Jocelyn Yarter; brother Kyle Yarter both of Carthage; maternal grandparents Pablo and Dawn Rivera of Carthage; paternal grandparents Roger and Paulette Yarter of Carthage; maternal grandmothers Lee Wilkinson of Carthage and Olga Rivera of NJ; mother in law Terri Russell of Robbins as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Bible Tabernacle Church and other times at the home of Rob and Lena Yarter. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Crossroad Baptist Church with Pastor Colton Moore and Steve Johnson officiating. A public viewing will be prior to the service from 1:00 – 1:50 PM. Burial will follow with full military honors in the church cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.
