Rykah Lyons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ackley-Mills Funeral Home - Remsen on Feb. 5, 2026.
REMSEN- Rykah Jamison Lyons, 16, beloved son, brother, uncle, and nephew, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, February 2, 2026 in Remsen doing what he loved, snowmobiling.

He was born in Rome, New York on March 23, 2009, the son of Raymond and Veronica Niemeyer Lyons. Rykah currently was a junior at Remsen Central High School and had been attending Madison-Oneida BOCES for electrical, planning to go to lineman school following graduation. He played varsity soccer this past fall and currently was on the varsity basketball team. Rykah was also looking forward to spring time, when varsity track and field would begin. He had worked as a short order cook at Haskell's Inn and worked for the Walker family and Steve Boucher, completing many odd jobs and landscaping projects. Most recently, Rykah and one of his best friends had been working together operating their own business, A and R Landscaping and Snow Shoveling. Just this past Saturday, he had received his drivers license in the mail and was eager to purchase his own vehicle.

Rykah had a very strong work ethic, working every weekend, school break, or chance he could get, including after his own sporting events. He was a proud blue collar country boy. Rykah was a true gentleman with respect and regard for others around him at all times, with his sisters being the exceptions now and again of course.

Rykah loved anything with wheels or a motor. He could often be found riding his fourwheeler and dirtbike around. In the winter, Rykah would do the same with his snowmobile, impatiently waiting for the snow to fall and riding to school when he could. He greatly enjoyed hunting, trying his absolute best to get a nice buck. Rykah enjoyed fishing and was looking forward to getting out in his new boat this spring. He enjoyed attending school dances as well.

His passion for snowmobiling led him to become a proud member of the Penn Mountain Snow Riders club of Barneveld.

Rykah is survived by his parents, Raymond and Veronica Lyons; three siblings, Graycie Lyons, Seneca Lyons, and Kashmir Niemeyer ; a nephew Kieran Niemeyer; maternal step-grandfather, William E. Persall; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Joan E. DeWolf; maternal grandparents, Stephen J.J. Niemeyer and Nancy Persall; and one cousin, Emily R. Ophardt.

His funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at St. Leo and St. Ann's Catholic Church, 7937 Elm Street, Holland Patent 13354. Calling hours will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the care of Ackley-Mills Funeral Home, Remsen.

In the words of Rykah, "That's blue collar!"
