Belhaven, NC---
Sadie Elizabeth Banks Eure, 92, of 21 Pungo Trail Access, Belhaven, and a former longtime resident of the New Hope community of Perquimans County, died Thursday, December 5, 2024, in ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
Mrs. Eure was born in Mecklenburg County on January 22, 1932, and was the daughter of the late William Rudolph and Rose Waldron Banks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Ray Eure; and by her sister, Eleanor Thomas.
For many years she was the bookkeeper and office manager of the family business, Eure Seed Farms, Inc. She retired from the Perquimans County Tax Office, before that was employed with the county Register of Deeds, and still found the time to volunteer with county Board of Elections.
At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Berea Church of Christ where she had faithfully served in the choir, as the church treasurer, and with the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Surviving are her daughters, Rebecca Eure Martin (husband, Randy) and Carole Eure Roberts (husband, A.O.), both of Hertford, and Terry Eure Park (husband, Randy) of Belhaven; two sisters, Penny Cromer of Wilmington and Bonnie Kidd of Lynchburg, VA; two brothers, Charles Banks of Edenton and Walter Banks of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren, Kevin, Michael, and Kristen Roberts, Tanner and Heather Martin, and Bruce and Billy Park; 21 great-grandchildren, and her first great-great-grandchild due to be born in June.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7th, at 2:00 p.m. in Berea Church of Christ and will be conducted by her pastor, Minister Lee Modlin. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, or in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Christian Women’s Fellowship of Berea Church of Christ, 1664 New Hope Road, Hertford, NC. 27944.
