Graveside services for Sadie Foster, 91, of Pocahontas, will be 12 Noon, Wednesday, October 16,2024, at Bethel Cemetery on Tomlinson Road near Pocahontas. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Foster passed from this life on Monday morning, October 14, 2024, at her home.
She was born in McNairy County to the late Charles Monroe Morphis and Ida Russell Morphis on Saturday, January 14, 1933. She was united in marriage to Thomas Franklin Foster on Saturday, November 19, 1949, after which, they moved to Memphis where they lived for nearly 50 years before settling back in Pocahontas following Mr. Foster's retirement. He departed this life on Friday, September 16, 2011 following 62 years together.
Mrs. Foster worked as a homemaker caring for her family and their home. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading (especially her Bible), crossword puzzles, flowers, gardening and collecting and, in her younger years, working with ceramics. Her favorite times were spent in the company of her family including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves two sons, Jeffrey F. (Marcy) Foster of Foley, AL and Mark (Kathy) Foster of Guys, TN; a sister, Maxine Firnhaber of Fulton, KY; a brother, Radye (Judy) Morphis of Pocahontas; five grandchildren, Ryan (Noelle) Foster, Danielle Foster (Tracy), James Foster, Shanon (Matt) Brady and Dreu (Monica) Foster; and nine great-grandchildren, Logan, Westin, Brody and Swayzie Foster; Jenna, Avery, Keria and Jack Brady; and Kyson Foster.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Foster on Monday, December 17, 2012; and five sisters and brothers, Vadine, Josie, Nathan, Gene and Leonard.
