Watertown - Sally A. Armstrong, 76, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, after a brief illness while at Samaritan Medical Center with her beloved family by her side. She was born to the late Cora (Fyffe) Young and Lansing Arthur Young Sr. on August 13, 1949.
Sally attended a couple of Carthage area schools throughout her childhood, attended BOCES for Nursing, and graduated from Carthage Central School. After graduation, Sally went on to start her career at Mercy Hospital, where she dedicated her service as a CNA from 1967 until their closing in 2012. Throughout her 45 years at the hospital, she cared for numerous patients and residents while working on 4 North, Macaulay 2, Madonna Home, Unit B, and 2 East. Her unwavering dedication to her career and her patients enabled her to form lasting relationships with many of the people she worked alongside. After Mercy Hospital closed and she started her retirement, Sally was able to start the job that she loved most, which was transporting her beloved grandchildren to their various school and life events.
She married Glenn G. (Corky) Armstrong on April 7, 1973. Together, they had three children: Memory (Ken) Berry, Glenn L. (Michelle) Armstrong, and Patrick Armstrong Sr.
Sally loved the simple things in life: going for long car rides and spotting deer with Corky, tending to her flowers, scratching lotto tickets, listening to her children talk about their triumphs and being there to listen to their concerns, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren learn and grow into adulthood.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years; her three children and their spouses; seven grandchildren; seven great-granddaughters; her best friend, Annie; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Belcher and Christine Orr; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents; her sister, Patricia Ouderkirk; her brother, Lansing Young Jr.; her sister, Sharon Young; and her in-laws, Glenn E. and Grace Armstrong.
