Sally Louise (Briley) Gave

Sally was born on May 25, 1935 in Atlanta, Michigan to Austin and Almeda Briley. She was the eldest of seven children. She graduated from Atlanta High School in June of 1952. Soon after, she attended the County Normal School where she received her Teaching Certificate. She moved to Rockford, Michigan, where she taught in a one room school house in the Fifties and Early Sixties. She married Russell Gave on February 27, 1960, and they later had two daughters, Misty Gave and Sandra Gave. They resided on Summit Street in Rockford, Michigan until August of 1976, when they moved to White Pigeon, Michigan. Prior to that, Sally worked as a custodian, at North View High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Once settled into their new home, Sally became employed at Harder Corporation, in Middlebury Indiana. Together Sally and Rusell resided at their White Pigeon address until his death in September of 1999. Sally remained living in their home, by herself, until recently.

 Sally is survived by her two daughters and their families: Misty Gave and grandson, Russell Aber; and Sandra Gave-Westendorp and her husband Jack Westendorp, her grandson, Jesse Westendorp, and grandson and grand-daughter-in-law, Zachary and Alyssa Westendorp. She is, also, survived by her two remaining siblings Tessabelle Elenor (Briley) Kishigo and Katheleen Marie (Briley) Powell. She is survived, too, by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, as well.

She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, of thirty-nine years, Russell Vernor Gave, her parents Austin Edmond Briley, Sr. and Almeda Laverne (Dobbyn) Briley, as well as her half-sibling Betty Jane (Briley) Knudson, and her other siblings, Edmond Austin Briley, who passed away at birth, Geraldine Ellen (Briley) LaFleche, Austin Edmond Briley, Jr., Bonnie Lou (Briley) Spallone, and Dawn Ann Briley.

Per Sally’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Later, a small gathering of her family will take place at the White Pigeon Cemetery, in White Pigeon, Michigan, where her ashes will be laid to eternal rest and be reunited with her husband, In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you might choose to donate to Birch Meadows Senior Care, at 710 North Douglas Avenue, Three Rivers, Michigan 49093, or Centrica Care Navigators/Hospice, at 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009. 

Sally was loved by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
