Sally Jo (Roesner) Fuhr, 80, of Edgington, IL, died on November 28, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 13228 140th Street West, Taylor Ridge, IL 61284. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, at church. Burial will be at the Edgington Cemetery. There will be a catered luncheon at the church to follow, for those who wish to attend.

Sally was born on July 15, 1944, the oldest daughter, second child of five to Chester W. Roesner and Carol M. (Reeder) Roesner. She grew up on the farm near Colona, IL.

She was proud of being a farmer's daughter, and later a farmer's wife. She attended Geneseo Schools, graduating in the Class of 1962. Later, in 1985, she graduated from Blackhawk College with an English major.

Sally was a child of the earth. She loved gardening and the outdoors life where she could be in nature, with God's beauty. Even as she faced health challenges this year, she found her way to the garden, to plant and harvest tomatoes, and pick cherries from the low branches. She had excellent baking skills, making sheet pies, rhubarb crisp, and homemade rolls.

Sally prided herself in her creativity. She was an artist, a doll maker, a sculptor, a creative writer, and a professional seamstress. She spoke plainly and without pretension and she thought more deeply beyond the ordinary. She possessed a Davincian fascination with the art of science and the beauty of all living things. She loved Jack Russell terrier dogs.

Sally married Ernest P. Fuhr, Jr. on September 11, 1965, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA. They raised their three sons on the family farm west of Edgington. Over the years, Sally worked as a stenographer, a correspondent for local newspapers, and as a professional seamstress. Her favorite occupation, however, was being a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Ernest N. Fuhr (Stephanie), R. Ben Fuhr (Jenn), and William V. Fuhr (Carrie); and her grandchildren Madeline and Will. In addition, her siblings Denis "Mike" Roesner (Pat), William "Bill" Roesner (Pam), Becky Geuns (Jim), and Susan Djiovanis; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; and a niece Jillian Geuns Hege.

The Fuhr family wishes to thank UnityPoint at Home Hospice, and also her excellent caregivers, Teresa and Latisha.

Memorials may be left to Rockridge High School, with the Memo Line of: "Art Supplies, in Memory of Sally Fuhr". Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, is assisting with the service.
