Sally Jo Gowman

Sally Jo Gowman, 87, of South Beloit, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Wesley Willows in Rockford, IL.She was born on April 15, 1938 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Victor and Ethel (Kline) Millay. Sally Jo was a 1956 South Beloit High School graduate. She married Emmett Gowman on August 16, 1957 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on July 1, 2023.Sally Jo was formerly employed by Beloit Corporation for over 40 years. She was a member of Sun Valley Presbyterian Church. Sally Jo was a volunteer for Beloit Memorial Hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed meeting with classmates once a month for lunch. Sally Jo loved going to the casino in her free time. Above all, her family meant the most to her.Survivors include her children, James (Jacinda) Gowman and Laurie (Chris) Ludlum; grandchildren, Brett (Ashley) Hundley, Jade (Dannie) House, Cody Gowman, and Zachary Gowman; great-grandchildren, Nevayah, Ashiya, Aylah, Zachary Jr., Giana, and Myles.Sally Jo was predeceased by her parents; granddaughter, Heather; two sisters, Irene Phillips and Elizabeth Palko.A Funeral Service for Sally Jo will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Dave Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery. Visitation of Remembrance will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
