Sally Hostutler Obituary

Published by Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home on Jun. 26, 2016.
After a valiant 16-year fight with an extremely rare cancer, adenoid cystic carcinoma, our beloved Sally, went home to be with Jesus with her loving husband and youngest son at her side. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 35 years, William Rodney Hostutler, and four sons: Justin Hostutler of Orlando, FL, Dusty Hostutler (Jessie) of Delaware, OH, Kyle Hostutler of Orlando, FL and Trent Hostutler of Fairmont; two brothers: Tyssen (Stacie) Booth, Las Vegas NV; Randy Booth, Beaufort SC and one sister, Stephanie (Victor) Sossong of Erie PA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and extended family from whom she derived great joy and delight. She was born October 2, 1959, to Shirley (Griffith) and Ronald Booth in San Diego, California and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada having graduated from Rancho High School. Sally loved her husband and her boys with all her heart and fought to stay here on earth for them. But when the Lord decided her time on earth was finished, she bravely accepted God's providence and took her final breath on June 26, 2016. She was an example to all who knew her of faith, courage, endurance, and love. Although this terrible disease called cancer ate away at her until it overtook almost her entire body, Sally never allowed herself to be defined by this disease and not once complained about her lot in life. In fact, she used it to witness to countless doctors, nurses and medical professionals about her faith in Jesus Christ and His Goodness in spite of her circumstances. Until the absolute final months of her life, Sally continued to work at Jayenne Elementary as a cook because she loved her job, co-workers and especially the children. When Sally suspected that a child might go hungry over a long weekend, she made sure that child went home with a care package of food. Sally loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully at Fountain of Life Church (formerly Bible Fellowship) where she organized the Samaritan's Box shoebox collection, organized trips to conferences to help women grow in their faith, and served at every church meal and every other function until she simply could no longer do so. She also loved to serve the poor and needy, spending many a Christmas Day with her family serving Christmas Dinner at the Fairmont Soup Opera. A highlight of her life was a mission trip to the Servant's Heart Ministry in Mandeville, Jamaica, where she helped with a medical mission. While Sally valued her life on this earth and had a real zest for life's simple pleasures, she knew that her citizenship is in Heaven where the Lord Jesus Christ will bring everything under His control and where He will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body (Philippians 3: 20-21). Yes, Sally will be whole again when she receives her glorified body. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the amazing team at Amedisys Hospice, especially nurses Courtney and Cody, for their love, support and caring dedication during the last most difficult weeks. And words cannot express our thankfulness to all of the Marion County Board of Education employees who selflessly donated their leave and sick days during Sally's prolonged surgeries to allow her to receive her continued salary. Finally, how can we possibly thank each of you for your thoughtfulness, meals, gifts, flowers, phone calls, visits and caring during this long journey – except to say we value every kindness. The family will receive friends at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street in Fairmont from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. The Committal Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton with the procession leaving Fountain of Life Church, 3231 Fairmont Ave, Fairmont, WV 26554 at 9:30 a.m. The Memorial service will be held at the Fountain of Life Church at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday following the Committal Service with Brian Cole officiating, with a luncheon immediately following. Condolences may be sent online to the family at www.CarpenterandFord.com. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions be made to Fountain of Life Church, 3231 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554.

I am so very sorry for your loss. A huge loss for everyone that was lucky enough to know Sally. I wish I could be there, I feel so close to all of you, and I know how hard this must be to not have her here anymore. I know she will be your guardian angel. A mother's love is so powerful. She was so special to me and always in my thoughts and heart even though we lived so far away from each other. She is and will continue to be in my thoughts and my heart everyday as will all of you. I know you all will miss her so very much and rest assured, I and many, many others will also. Love and Prayers to you and all of Sally's family

Working with son, Dusty, all of us didn't hear about his mother's health issues over all of these years, as he's always has been very private about his mom's struggles until just recently. But I do know that she has raised some wonderful children, especially if they are all like Dusty.

At work in our region, we treat each other as an extension of our own families, so we all mourn alongside with Dusty and his family and with the loss of their mother, Sally.

From what Dusty mentioned recently, his mom fought a long and tough battle and always remaining positive until the very end. I know she will be dearly missed by everyone close to her, but never forgotten, as a part of her lives on in each of her children and even with future grandchildren.

Sally, I never got the pleasure and opportunity to meet you. But I'm sure there will be some wonderful stories told about you when your family and friends celebrate your life.

You've moved on to your next journey, but your trail will live on forever!

God bless you and your family, too.
