Sally Langis Obituary
MIDDLETON- Mrs. Sallie (Sally) F. (Alexander) Langis 91, of Middleton, beloved wife of the late Raymond "Babe" Langis, died, Thursday May 2nd, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her family.
Born October 2nd, 1921 in Benson, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Bessie (Turlington) Alexander. She was raised and educated in Raeford, NC and was a graduate of Hoke County High School. Sally continued her education from Western Carolina Teachers College in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
Mrs. Langis began her professional career with Westinghouse Manufacturers in Baltimore, Maryland, producing materials for the United States Services during World War II, where she was introduced to her future husband by her sister Anne. Babe and Sally married January 18th, 1946 in Revere, MA. She moved to Massachusetts residing first in Revere and then Middleton where she has since resided for many years. Sally had been the Cafeteria Manager at the Howe-Manning and Fuller Meadow Schools in Middleton until the time of her retirement.
A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, she was a dedicated communicant of St. Agnes Parish in Middleton. Mrs Langis was a member of the Ladies Sodality at St Agnes, she enjoyed playing bingo and was an active member of the Middleton Senior Center. She enjoyed games of chance and traveling with her family. Family, above all else was paramount in her life. Sally showed her love to her family in many ways, from cooking a delicious southern home cooked meal to sharing encouraging words, her heart and dedication to her family was evident in all of her actions. She will be deeply missed.
Sally is survived by her children, Nancy Langis Maynard of Peabody, Raymond Langis and his wife Jeanne of Newburyport and Joe Langis of Middleton, her grandchildren, Matthew Langis and his wife Lisa of Newburyport, Elizabeth Chateauneuf and her husband Brad of Amesbury, Amy Leary and her husband Terry of Newburyport, Katerine Cote and her husband Michael Cote of Amesbury, Todd Langis and his wife Amanda of Amesbury and Jason Maynard of Peabody, her great-grandchildren, Chloe and Quinn Chateauneuf of Amesbury, Max and Sam Langis of Newburyport, Isabelle, Grace and Fiona Leary of Newburyport and Tharen Cote of Amesbury, her siblings, Lois Austin of Raeford, N.C., Bill Alexander of Chapel Hill, N.C., James Alexander of Wallace, N.C., Tom Alexander of Edmonds, Washington and Robert Alexander of Dublin, Georgia and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Lois C. Langis and the sister of the late Anne Langis and Edna Poole.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers, at 11:15 A.M., followed by her funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church, Middleton, at 12 noon. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting hours Sunday May 5th,from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
