Sally Ann McNamara
January 11, 1943 - July 21, 2025
Sally Ann McNamara, known to most as Ann, passed away on July 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service and strength to her family, friends, and animals.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey on January 11, 1943, to Edna and Vincent McNamara, Ann was the youngest of four sisters and is now reunited with them all in heaven. She lived a life filled with purpose and compassion. A proud U.S. Army veteran, she served with honor as a nurse in Vietnam, Korea, and Belgium. After her military retirement, she continued caring for others as a nurse anesthetist at St. Mary's of Saginaw, and then at the Midland Hospital in Midland, Michigan.
Ann had a fierce love for her family. Though she never married or had children, she treated her many nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews as her own-offering her wisdom and unwavering support. She was lovingly cared for by her great niece, Ashley Spann, for the past 3 years.
She was deeply rooted in her passions. She built and ran a horse boarding facility on her property in Midland, was a longtime leader of the Rainbow Riders 4-H Club, and an active member of the Midland County Kennel Club. A devoted Shetland Sheepdog breeder, Ann's most beloved Sheltie, Angie, was adored for her signature Kleenex trick performed anytime someone sneezed.
Ann also found joy spending countless hours as an avid bird watcher and traveled to many places across the country to add to her "life list".
Her life was one of quiet dedication, humor, and heart. She will be missed dearly and remembered always.
Military honors will take place 11 a.m. Saturday August 2, 2025, in Midland Cemetery, 3220 Orchard Drive, Midland followed by a luncheon at the Midland American Legion Post #165. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Humane Society of Midland County or the Midland American Legion Post #165.
