Sam Edward Bolt

Sam Edward Bolt, Jr., 78, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Sam Edward Bolt, Sr. and Lucille Harbin Bolt. Sam retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after 26 years of service as a State Trooper. He retired a second time from Aerus (formerly Electrolux). He was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva.
He is survived by his wife, Ronda G. Bolt; sons, Tim Bolt (Tammy) and Jim Bolt; grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Casey, Christina, Matthew, and Grace; six great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Fowler; brother-in-law, Wayne Gentry (Karen); sister-in-law, Miriam Gentry; sister-by-love, Jill Hollen (Terry Stone). Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephews: Cindy Hayes, Hailey Johnson (Ren), Nathan Gentry, Jenny Padgett (Daniel), Hannah Watt, Erica Wallace (Marc), Will Fowler, Sarah New (Daniel), and Katie Stancil (John). His family-by-love: Chris and Amanda Newton, Abbigail, Blake, Natalee and Scarlett; Brad and Theresa Dickson, Ariana and Nikolia; and Sean and Amanda Billings, Emily and Haley. He is also survived by a brother, Terry Bolt (Ann).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Bolt and two beloved brothers-in-law, Ernie Gentry and Bill Fowler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, at First Baptist Church of Iva conducted by Rev. Jerry Gray and Rev. Jerry Durham. Burial, with officer honors, will follow at Iva City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The family is at the residence.
Honorary escort will include all law enforcement, both active and retired, and First Responders.
The family sends their sincerest appreciation to Kindred at Home and to Kindred Hospice for their excellent care and loving compassion to both Sam and Ronda during his extended illness.
