Sam Marshall Hughes Jr., lovingly known as Pawpaw Sam by his grandchildren, was born on September 10, 1956, and sadly passed away on August 29, 2024. His life, filled with warmth and creativity, touched the hearts of many, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Sam's passion for music resonated deeply with those around him. He found joy in playing the guitar and listening to Rock and Country Music, often filling the air with melodies that brought people together. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he embodied the spirit of love and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Roth Hughes, who stood by him through thick and thin. Together, they cultivated a home filled with laughter and warmth. His son, Sam Marshall Hughes III, along with his wife Christal, carries forward the legacy of love that Sam instilled in his family. Sam was especially proud of his grandchildren, Starr, Cole, and Douglas, each of whom he took immense joy in sharing his life lessons and stories with them, often regaling them with tales from his childhood, all while fostering their dreams and aspirations. Sam wasn't just a grandfather; he was the embodiment of love and a playmate rolled into one, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Adding to the tapestry of his life, Sam was adored by his four great-grandchildren, who filled his later years with even more joy and laughter. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through them, reminding future generations of his boundless love. Sam shared a special bond with his siblings, Teddy, Clyde, and Dorothy. Their Companionship throughout the years added another layer of depth to his character, and the memories they forged together remain precious to all who knew them.
Though he is preceded in death by his father, Sam Marshall Hughes Sr., and his mother, Gonzala Cavazo Hughes, the love he shared during his lifetime will forever echo in the hearts of those he left behind.
The family invites all who knew Sam to celebrate his remarkable life during a visitation on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, located at 200 S.
