Sammy Allinder

Sammy Allinder passed away on May 14, 2025, at the age of 85 in Troy, Michigan. Sammy was born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, on June 30, 1939, to Paul and Eileen Allinder.
Sammy is the beloved husband of the late Dreana Dawn and the late Betty Lou. Loving father of Sammy (Lisa) Allinder II, Brenda (Michael) Humphrey, and Richard Allinder. Very proud Papa of Kyle Allinder, Katelyn Allinder, Cody (fiancée Sarah Doyle) Wright, and Cassidy (Chase) Haley. Dear brother of Paul "Bob" Allinder and Patricia "Patti" Felt.
Sammy was one of those people you never forget. He was loved by everyone, and even if you met as complete strangers, you parted ways feeling like you'd just found a new best friend. He was also a natural leader. His family described him as the kind of person who, for lack of a better term, became a surrogate parent to many. When you didn't have a dad to talk to, Sammy was there. When you needed sound advice, he was quick to offer wisdom. His children's friends often looked to Sammy for guidance, and he never shied away from providing it.
Sammy was also a passionate Detroit sports fan. He followed the Tigers, the Lions, and especially the Detroit Red Wings. As a season ticket holder for the Red Wings for 48 years, Sammy witnessed the good, the bad, and everything in between. But no matter the standings, he was always the loudest fan at the Joe.
He also had a deep love for classic American steel, proudly owning his beloved '57 Chevy Bel Air among other classic cars. Music was another lifelong passion-he often fell asleep listening to music or cranked up the tunes on road trips.
Sammy loved his dogs, and his grand-pups-Katie, Lucy, and Stryker will surely miss his daily presence. But above all these passions, what Sammy loved most was his family. His grandkids were his #1 priority. So much so, he invited everyone to simply call him Papa. To him, the sun rose and set on his grandkids.
Visitation: Friday, 2–8 PM at Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (north of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Township.
Instate: Saturday, 9 AM until 10 AM funeral service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 47120 Romeo Plank Road (corner of 21 Mile Rd.), Macomb Township.
Interment: White Chapel Cemetery.
