Sammy "Sam" J. Hight, 79, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, dedication and kindness. Born on June 2, 1944 to Sam and Lottie Hight in Louisburg, NC, Sam graduated from Louisburg High School and after attending Louisburg College and East Carolina University went on to pursue a career in Cosmetology as a Hairdresser working in Hampton, VA and Louisburg, NC for over 58 years. His dedication and talent earned him the devotion and friendship of his clients.
Sam is survived by his wife Cheryl, married for 49 years. Together, building a life with love, laughter, and cherished memories, along with their daughter Stephanie Hight Poston (Nic), who was the apple of his eye. He is also survived by his brother Neil Hight (Joan).
In his free time, Sam enjoyed raising and showing both Quarter Horses as well as Hunter Jumper Ponies. He was a dedicated member of Maple Springs Baptist Church where he served in numerous committees and came to be known as the unofficial head of the welcoming committee. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Sam's life will be held on May 5, 2024, 2:30pm at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Louisburg, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missions Program at Maple Springs Baptist Church. Sam's memory will live on in our hearts forever
