Sammy Holt

Sammy Lee Holt Sr., age 81, of Hamby, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025.

 Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Hamby Church of Christ, 197 CR 504, Abilene, Texas 79601

 Sam was a faithful member of the Hamby Church of Christ and lived a life rooted in service, humility, and quiet gratitude. He had a deep love for writing poetry, often reflecting on the life lessons and experiences that shaped him. A gifted craftsman, Sam found joy in working with wood and building items for others, never expecting payment. For him, the simple act of helping someone was reward enough.

 Sam cherished the peace and quiet of Hamby, Texas, where he spent countless moments enjoying the beauty of God's creation. Sunrises and sunsets held a special place in his heart, and he frequently shared reflections online about how blessed he felt to live in such a beautiful place.

 Sam proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for six years, spending much of his service time in Southeast Asia.

 Born in Porterville, California, Sam spent most of his life in Missouri and Texas, places he proudly called home.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Jefferson Holt and Helen Lucille Holt, and his sisters, Virginia Lucille Wood and Nicki Susan Love.

 He is survived by his brother, Bille Earl Holt; his sister, Martha Jane Book; his son, Sammy Lee Holt Jr.; his grandchildren, Paisley Grace Holt and Peyton Avery Holt; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
