Samuel Allen Agron, 94, passed away peacefully April 26, 2023, at SeniorCare Homes, Vineyard House, in Overland Park, Kansas.
Sam was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 3, 1928, to Isadore and Minnie Agron. He graduated from Central High School He was a member and president of the Del-Rey Fraternity, and many of these young men maintained lifelong friendships. It was at one of the Del-Rey parties where he met his soulmate, Maurine Zigler. She was just 15 years old, and he was 20. Sam studied accounting at Kansas City Junior College for two years before being drafted into the United States Army in 1950, proudly serving in the Korean War until 1952. He later worked at the St. Louis Army Finance Center.
Sam owned and operated Park Avenue Market, originally at 12th and Park in Kansas City, Missouri, for more than 38 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, their Men's Club and was an original member of the ROMEOs.
Sam and Maurine, a dynamic duo, were married July 26, 1953. They had the happiest of marriages and were an example for their daughters Lori and Gerri Lyn, and their grandchildren, Brett Ginsburg and Blaire Ginsburg.
Sam was a devoted and loving "daddy" to his daughters, always making them feel special and loved. He loved being an active and involved Grandpa. He was proud to be part of his grandchildren's growth into adulthood and following their accomplishments.
Sam is survived by daughters Lori Greenberg (Steve) and Gerri Lyn Ginsburg (Byron), grandson Brett Ginsburg (Chelsea) and granddaughter Blaire Ginsburg, plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Rosalie Hersh; and Maurine, his wife of 66 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City-where Maurine and Sam met and enjoyed many decades of fitness-or the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Anthology of Overland Park, where Sam resided from 2017-2022, as well as Vineyard House, where he was lovingly cared for from January 2023 until his passing.
