Funeral Service at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am, Gary Tahmahkera officiating.
Samuel Steven Allen was born to John Douglass and Juanita Louise (Cooper) Allen on June 29, 1955 at Ft. Sill Army Base, OK and departed this life on January 4, 2025 in Lawton, OK at the age of 69 years, 6 months, and 6 days.
Sam grew up in Walters, OK, Ft. Worth, Dallas, Big Springs, and Midland, TX, as well as Albuquerque, NM and Canoga Park, CA where he was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church. The family moved to Walters in 1971. He left Walters Highschool early to join the U.S. Navy. Sam married Nancy Gail Tomah on November 4, 1974 in Walters and they made their home in San Diego, CA where he was stationed. She eventually returned to Walters for 6 months while he was stationed in the Philippines on the USS Roark. They eventually met back in San Diego until his discharge, returning to Oklahoma.
Sam worked at Fort Sill for a time and then hired on with Goodyear in 1979. They lived in Lawton, where their son, Brandon, and daughter, Sandra, were born. In 1988 they moved back to Walters and he eventually retired after 29 years with Goodyear. This was followed by several years with Comanche Red River and Star Casinos as a technician and eventually a floor Manager.
Sam enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and reading. He loved spending time riding his Harleys while he was able. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a proud member of the Comanche Nation and the CIVA.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his father, Doug Allen; and his brother, Wayne Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home; his son, Brandon Allen and Rebecca of Rapid City, SD; his daughter, Sandra Hilbert and Colby of Virginia Beach, VA; his mother, Juanita Allen of Walters; 4 siblings, Roy Allen and Teena of Walters, Nancy Morse of Walters, Richard Allen and Kim of Duncan, Donald Allen and Kathryn of Walters; 3 grandchildren, Rhaleigh Harris of Iowa Park, TX, Sophie Allen of Tucson, AZ and Mia Grace Hilbert of Virginia Beach; 3 step-granddaughters, Katurah, Ruth and Naomi all of Rapid City, SD; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
