Samuel Alexander Berger, 87, of Orrville, died April 7, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Home, in Rittman with his wife and daughter by his side.
Sam was born December 18, 1936 in Sardis, Ohio to Frederick and Esther {Rufener} Berger.
He married Sarah King on January 29, 1958.
Sam worked for Amstutz Hatchery/Spray-A-Lawn for 29 years, and he retired from Orrville Chick Hatchery after 22 years. He was a member of the North Main Church of Christ in Orrville. Sam enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He enjoyed listening to Saturday morning Polka.
Sam will be deeply missed by his wife of 66 years Sarah; son Franklin (Lisa) Berger of Wooster; daughter Sandra (Robert) Bender of Orrville; grandson Adam Throckmorton; and many nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Waldo, Glen, and Vernon Berger, and sister Martha Schafer.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Samuel-Berger) with Minister Chuck Hopkins officiating.
