Samuel William Borders

Mr. Samuel William Borders (lovingly called Sam) was born on January 20, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Thad C. Borders Sr. and Sibile Borders. He was the youngest of three children. A student of Atlanta Public Schools, Sam graduated from Henry M. Turner High School with the Class of 1975.
Sam was industrious and never shied away from working with his hands. After working in various construction fields, he gained over 25 years of experience while maintaining roles with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a carrier and Atlanta Public Schools as a facilities technician/manager, retiring in 2008.
With an unwavering dedication to serving others, Sam was a devoted community member known for giving back. His altruism included countless hours of volunteer work, mentoring young men, and building homes for those in need. A longtime active member of The Chapel of Christian Love Baptist Church, Sam received recognition for his contributions to The Unity Mass Choir and his service as an usher. With a keen eye for detail, he took great pride in maintaining his home, his vehicles (especially his Corvettes), and caring for Neco, his beloved four-legged companion.
In the early morning of February 10, 2025, God saw fit for Sam to retire from his earthly duties. He was called to shine down on us from the heavens above. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yonine (Nina) Borders; his mother, Sibile Borders; his father, Thad Cole Borders Sr.; and his sister, Dale Borders.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving son, Dr. Marcus J.W. Borders; his brother, Thad C. Borders Jr. (Betty); and a host of special nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, extended family, church family, and friends.
