Samuel Carey Obituary
He was born in Concord, NH on December 20, 1984, the youngest son of Owen and Esther Carey. His mom homeschooled him for five years, then he went on to attend Manchester Central High School where he quickly became an important asset to Coach David "Doc" Wheeler while playing on the varsity basketball team. He was offered multiple scholarships after graduating in 2003 but accepted the offer to attend Southern New Hampshire University due to his strong ties to his family and community.
Sam went on to become a professional basketball player which took him all over the world. He played for Uruguay, Germany, Quebec, and for the Manchester Millrats. He also spent countless hours mentoring at Central High School and the Manchester Boys & Girls Club basketball program, as well summer community camps.
Sam grew up attending New Testament Christian Fellowship where family was the core of his beliefs. He was deeply loved and will be terribly missed by all. His 6'8" frame was no comparison to the size of his heart. He was known for his spontaneous hugs, positive attitude and unforgettable smile. He made a lasting impact/impression on everyone he met resulting in a countless number of friends reaching around the world.
Family members include his fiacee Kayte Kenyon and his son Brayden Lucas Carey, both of Manchester; his parents of Manchester; six siblings, Mary Foster of California, Christina Carey Petrie and husband Steve of Boynton Beach, FL, Aaron Carey and his wife Jeanette of Manchester, Nicole Hall and husband Seth of Manchester, Israel Carey and wife Shanun of Manchester, Melissa Platt and husband Kevin, relocating from Hawaii; thirteen nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins as well as his beloved dog Lennox who has a permanent home with Sam's parents.
The memorial service was held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the field house at Southern New Hampshire University, 1250 N. River Road, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, it has been requested that donations be made in his memory to benefit his family via The Kayte Kenyon/Brayden Carey Trust Fund, Care of TDBank, 70 Bay St, Manchester, NH 03104.

Sam was like a big brother to me. In 2005 we/Central won the state hoop title. Sam was at the after party and two girls came up and asked if we were brothers, and Sam put his arm around me and said JJ is my "little bro". Never met Sam but love and respect Owen and Ester. Loosing a child is a sad and undescribable loss. I know i have been there. I pray not only for the parents but His brothers and sisters too. God will heal you in His time. Love you all.

You were an amazing friend, uncle, brother, father, son, lover. You have touched so many people over these years you everyone loves you your a great person honest brave kind respectful curtious the list goes on and on i remember meeting you when i was a freshman at central and you were always so nice even when the years went on. I remember cutting you hair in the shop and we would just talking and laugh and then you would just fall asleep while you were in the middle of getting your hair cut to funny but you always seemed so relaxed in the chair with me. i just talked to you this past monday and you were telling me you were coming home for a week and you needed to come see me so i can freshing you up, you told me you were gonna bring your son brayden in so i could meet your little man before my son was born, we always talked about our sons growing up together and your son beating mine in basketball but that was a given but you said you would teach them both.
