Samuel Daniel "SD" Cook, III

October 29, 1953 - January 13, 2026

Samuel Daniel "S.D." Cook, III, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Charlottesville.

S.D. was born on October 29, 1953, to the late Samuel Daniel "Dan" and the late Hazel Weaver Cook of Greenville, VA. S.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Dudley Cook, and sister, Priscilla Cook Truxell.

He attended the Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church. After graduating from Riverheads High School, he began his career at General Electric, eventually retiring from Genicom. After retirement, he started driving over the road for several companies.

He loved being outdoors when not working and loved to hunt and fish on the York River. S.D. helped out on the family farm, where he tended to the cattle.

Surviving family includes his son, Travis Brown (Shannon); brother, Jerry N. Cook (Wanda); two sisters, Joyce C. Hite (Homer), Frances C. Weaver (Daniel); two grandchildren, Christopher and Addison Brown; and brother-in-law, Charles Truxell.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026, at McDow Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, on January 16, 2026, at McDow Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Kevin Gasser. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
