Linda Sue Hays Bowles, 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at her residence in Fishersville.

She was born on July 31, 1951, in Staunton to the late John Franklin and Viola Catherine Thomas Hays.

Linda was a graduate of Riverheads High School, Class of 1969, and worked at Hollister Inc. in Stuarts Draft for twenty years.

She was a devoted member of Greenville Baptist Church for many years, where she served on several committees, taught Sunday School, led Vacation Bible School, and was head of the Hospitality Committee. Her faith was the foundation of her life.

She had a servant’s heart and always found joy in helping others. She loved studying the Bible, spending time with her loved ones, and relaxing at the beach-her favorite place to unwind.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Sue Bowles Davis (Casey); her son, Larry Thomas Bowles (Jackie); her brother, Roger Dale Hays; her sisters, Thelma Lillian Hays Campbell, Janet Faye Hays Eckard, and Brenda Kay Hays Walters (Mike); and her grandsons, Casey Shane Davis, II and Cole Murphy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Larry Clayton Bowles; her brothers, Ray Franklin and Melvin Willis Hays; her grandson, Joshua Davis; her sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hays and Freda Hays; and her brothers-in-law, Murray Campbell and Bud Eckard.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Jamie McClanahan officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Shane Davis, Cole Murphy, Scott Campbell, Jeff Eckard, Brian Hays, and Mike Mahon.

There will be a reception following at Greenville Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Greenville Baptist Church (P.O. Box 502, Greenville, VA 24440) or Legacy Hospice (650 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Ste 310, Charlottesville, VA 22911).
