Charlie Elton Dawson, 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on October 8, 1945, in Campbell County to the late Henry Wilson and Annie Elizabeth Watson Dawson.
Charlie dedicated twenty-five years of his life to working as a plumber at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Vietnam War.
Charlie was a longtime member of the Staunton Moose Lodge #1635. In his free time, he could often be found fishing or working on vehicles with his son, Doug. He also loved listening to country music alongside his wife and spending quiet evenings together watching television.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Taylor Dawson; his sons, Douglas Charles Dawson and his wife, Ellie and David Marshall Dawson and his wife, Kristin; his stepson, Eddie Thompson and his wife, Sharon; his brother, David Lynn Dawson and his wife, Lisa; his sister, Martha Angeleane Dawson Shelton; his sister-in-law, Kathy Welcher and her husband, Brian; his beloved cat, Milo; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Stacy Dawson; his brothers, Abb Elgin and Lonnie Carroll Dawson; and sisters, Barbara Ann Dawson Wade, Dolly Lee Dawson Barrier, and Emma Marie Dawson Leonard.
A funeral will be held at 2PM on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Reverend Doctor Glen Holman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will immediately follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
Pallbearers will be Douglas and David Dawson, Brian Welcher, Travis and Jacob Dawson, and Cameron Allison
