Samuel Joseph Daughton Sr.

SAMUEL JOSEPH DAUGHTON, SR., 96, of York, PA, formerly of Brogue, died in the late afternoon hours on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in York Hospital. Known as "JIM" he was married to the love of his life for 73 years when Anna Belle (Comer) Daughton passed on July 22, 2023. Born on January 27, 1929 in Whiteford, MD, he was a son of the late Samuel John Daughton and Mary Ellen (Cloman) Daughton. Jim worked for various locations: Buck Webster, Wilson Farm, for Elizabeth Streett, the Ridgon Farm, Claude Harkins, and Del's Contracting that became known as Jarrettsville Excavation after the death of Delmer Linkous. Jim retired in 2009 from working as a heavy equipment operator. One of Jim's favorite things to do was helping neighbors by pushing the snow from their driveways. Jim was known to enjoy "tinkering" with small engines and his John Deere lawn tractors. One of his favorite pastimes was working jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by: three children-Brenda Lee Null (Ken) of Resaca, GA; Samuel J. Daughton, Jr., (Malea) of Jarrettsville, MD and Mary Annette Schuler (Jerry) of Delta, PA. Five grandchildren-Christina Smithson (Donald); Sandy Padgett (Phil); Joy Pelt (Bill); Trish McMillan (Scott) and Don Schuler (Joyce Smith who was also a special friend to Jim) as well as nine great grandchildren-Andrew, Aaron, Steven, Tony, Andrea, Jessica, Mackenzie, Will and Ashlie. He was blessed with four great-great grandchildren-Ethan, Clara, Lorelei and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his brothers-George A. Daughton, Robert Homer Daughton and Charles R. Daughton – known as "Butch" Services will be held at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA with a viewing on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral services on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Bel Air Memorial Gardens next to his beloved wife, Anna Belle.
