Samuel Owen Gilley, Jr., age 82, of Lake Ozark, MO formerly of Vandalia, MO passed away at 8:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, MO
A graveside service with full military honors will be held 12:30 pm Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
The family is being served by the Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia.
Samuel was born on February 24, 1943, in East St. Louis, IL the son of Samuel Owen and Mary Ann (Seres) Gilley, Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Nolan Gilley (Taiylor) of Lee's Summit, MO, Cody Gilley (Sabrina) of Bowling Green, MO and Sam Gilley, III of Chicago, IL, daughter, Laurie Montoya (Chomper) of Denver, CO; grandsons, Carter, Cooper and Gray.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents.
Samuel honorably served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Sam was a member of various Veterans Organizations. He enjoyed drinking coffee, playing solitaire and watching his team the Dallas Cowboys. Above all Sam enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Gilley was a Christian by faith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of the Waters Funeral Home.
