Samuel Helms Obituary
He was a man of faith, great love and laughter, compassion, and integrity.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lucille Ashby Helms, daughters, Jo Dickerson (Gary); Yvonne Bright (Randy); Penny Capps (Paul); and a son Dean Helms. He is also survived by two brothers, Henry Helms (Trudy), and Tyson Helms (Vonda); and a sister Libby Sharpe.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Helms and infant daughters, Judy Ann and Juliet Marie Helms, a sister and brother-in-law Janice and Jack Maturo, and a brother Jake Helms.
He was grandfather to 9 grandchildren, Daniel Dickerson (Laura); Brandy Fleming (James); Amy Bowes, Gina Helms (Luke Naylor), Katie Ashley (Will), Jordan Helms (Jennifer), Johnathan Helms, Kristen Whitlow (Tim), and Jamie Staley (Jamie). He had 17 great grandchildren; Cole (Ruby), Ashby, Jonah and Luda Dickerson, Hayden and Brandon Fleming, Drake and Daisy Bowes, Addie and Layla Ashley, Samuel Jordan Helms, Cassie and Lee Murphy, Savannah and Reagan Whitlow and Caleb and Maggie Staley.
He worked at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Kayser Roth, Mann Consumer Sales in Burlington and Randy Bright Pontiac, Buick, GMC in Lancaster, SC before retiring.
The family will gather at the home of Penny and Paul Capps on Highway 62 North in Burlington.
