Samuel Vincent Hoots

Samuel Vincent Hoots, a lifelong resident of Hendersonville, North Carolina, met his Savior face to face on October 13th at the age of 96.

Born and raised in Hendersonville, he was the son of the late Georgina Glover Hoots and Maynard McKinley Hoots. Vincent dedicated his life to his family, faith, and community. A proud graduate of Brevard College, he went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955.

Following his service, he returned home and built a long and respected career in accounting. He maintained an office in downtown Hendersonville for many years and later retired as the office manager from Bildon Inc. Known for his tireless work ethic and quiet integrity, Vincent was a man who led by example-steadfast, reliable, and deeply committed to those he loved.

He was married for 72 years to the love of his life, Charlotte Perry Hoots who preceded him in death. Together, they built a strong and loving family that was always his greatest joy. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Phillips, three grandchildren Amy Jacobs, Brock Jackson (Lindsay) and Amber Jackson (Heather) and one great-grandchild, Tyler Jacobs, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law Daniel Phillips.

Vincent was a devoted member of his church, where he found fellowship and strength throughout his life. He also cherished the time he spent with his extended family, including two brothers, Gordon Hoots and Emory Hoots, and one sister Alice Wolfe, all who preceded him in death, He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. In his later years, he was lovingly cared for by two devoted caregivers, Shirley Porter and Claudia Quiroz, whose kindness and compassion brought great comfort and peace to him and his family.

His legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family and community. He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at Shepherd's Cemetery on Monday, October 20th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Hendersonville of which he was a member.
