Samuel Kline Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Young Family Funeral Home - Kendallville on Feb. 28, 2026.
Samuel Ivan Kline, 93, of Kendallville, Indiana died Friday, February 27, 2026, at Orchard Pointe Health Campus in Kendallville.

He was born May 14, 1932, in Albion to Ivan and Claudia (Ruffing) Kline.

In October 1953, in Brimfield he married Bonita "Bonnie" Dockery.

Mr. Kline honorably served in the U.S. Air Force, during the Korean War.

He had worked in the tool and die industry and retired from the Adroit Company in Huntertown.

Sam was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville; Kendallville VFW Post 2749; and a 70-year member of the Kendallville American Legion Post 86 and the Avilla American Legion Post 240.

He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and could happily lose an afternoon to a good round. At home, he loved settling in to watch old westerns, the kind of classic stories and familiar characters that always brought him comfort.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Bonnie Kline of Kendallville; two sons, Michael (Olinda) Kline of Auburn and Rick (Loretta) Kline of rural Avilla; five grandchildren, Michelle (Paul) Kuhlhorst of Auburn, Samantha (Justin) Penland of Huntertown, Corey Kline of Kendallville, Kevin Kline of Kendallville, and Tanya Buhl of Colorado; 11 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Michael Brown Kline, II; a sister, Lois Hetrick; and three brothers, Donald Kline, Dean Kline, and Fred Kline.

Private family services will be held at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.

Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
