Samuel Joseph LaRocca was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, cousin, uncle and friend. He was beloved by all who knew him, and felt the love and affection he so freely offered! His passion for teaching and great affinity for speaking foreign languages, had him working for the New York Board of Education, for more than fifty years! He served as a high school teacher, assistant principal, department chairman, and examiner for incoming educators. He was always ready to meet his students with joy and enthusiasm, excitement and frivolity. Since his youth, he was one to make others laugh, and his big, beautiful smile and twinkling green eyes, would simply melt your heart! Sam loved his family more deeply than words can express. His cherished wife of 67 years and best friend, for 83 years, Virginia, was everything to him! Together, they had four children, Michael (Pegeen), Richard, Maria (Thomas )and Regina, and three beautiful grandchildren, Sarah (Christopher) Michael Richard (Carissa) and Melissa Anne, and two precious great-grandchildren Miles and Penelope, of whom he was so proud and so committed to! To say he adored his family, would be an understatement! Along with his heartfelt devotion to his family, Sam was a man of great faith! He was a devout Catholic and always praised his precious Mom, (who was herself, a Jewish woman), for fostering his strong faith. Sam was so kind, caring, charitable and compassionate. He was generous of heart and spirit. To be in his presence was a treasured gift, and one we will always be forever grateful for!!!! Rest in peace, sweet angel. You are forever in our hearts, until we are together, again, in Heaven!!!! To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Samuel, please visit our Tree Store.
