Samuel Joseph Nista

Samuel Joseph Nista, 86, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. He was the husband of the late Carmela (Marotta) Nista.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Michael and Antoinette (Canal) Nista. Samuel was a lifelong resident of New Britain and was formerly employed at Fafnir Bearing Company before retiring. He was a member of the St. Ann Church. Samuel enjoyed gardening, caring for his yard, cooking, entertaining and hosting Sunday lunches with his family and friends. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
Surviving members of his family are a brother, Richard Nista along with his wife Patricia of Cheshire; a sister, Eleanor D'Amico of Middletown; sister-in-law, Anna Ruscito of New Britain, who was a loving caregiver for many years along with her husband Joseph; sister-in-law, Felicia Andriano of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Vincent Marotta along with his wife Carole of New Britain; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; his Godchildren; along with other family and friends.
In addition to his wife Carmela and his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Rocco Nista, Angelo Nista and Johnnie Nista; and his sisters, Christine Cozzolongo and Mary Viola.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit on C-5 at the Hospital of Central CT for their kind and special care. Special thanks to his loving niece, Rosanna Patoine, for her love and dedication over the many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Ann Church in New Britain. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. in New Britain.
