Mr. Samuel Raeford Padgett, 89, passed from his earthly to his eternal home, late Tuesday night, October 21, 2025.

Samuel was born in Pender County, NC, December 4, 1935, a son to the late Oscar Ransom Padgett and Edith Adelaide Piner Padgett.

Growing up, Samuel loved to hunt and fish. He was a 1953 graduate from Penderlea High School.  He was involved with his church and would travel to sing in other churches. Samuel met and married the former Louise Cavenaugh. They raised three children and made a life together. He was a carpenter by trade and successfully started his own contracting business, building houses. Samuel loved his Lord, he loved his family and he loved his work. We know that he is rejoicing with Him.

Samuel is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louise Cavenaugh Padgett; sons, Ray Padgett (Shari) of Willow Springs and Dudley Padgett of Pittsboro; his daughter, Kim Padgett; his grandchildren, Nikki Johnson, Olivia Wright (Eli), Todd Daughtry (Brooke), Nevada Garcia (David), Peyton Lemacks (Timothy); eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Carolyn Foreman.

In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

The Padgett family would like to express their gratitude to UNC Hospice in Hillsborough, NC, for their compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held 3:00PM, Sunday, October 26, 2025 at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Rd, Asheboro, NC 27205. Jamie Goff will officiate the service.
