Sam Pritchett was a man from the Florida Panhandle that loved life along the Florida coast. Residing both in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Warner Robins, Georgia, Sam passed away on November 25, 2015 at age 65. He was born on October 20, 1950 in Mobile, Alabama. While in high school, his family moved to Warner Robins, Georgia, where he graduated from Warner Robins High School. He went on to attend the University of Georgia and Memphis State University. Nevertheless, Sam remained true to his Alabama roots with his love for the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mildred and his brother Paul. Sam is survived by his wife Patti Stonehouse Pritchett, his family Becca Frazer and Nathan Frazer (Sarah), his dog Joe, his brothers Gary, Barry (Jane), Phil, his brother by choice Gary Cunningham (Lu) and many loving relatives.
Sam, a residential contractor, built and remodeled homes with his father as part of the Pritchett & Pritchett Construction Company from 1979 until the mid-nineties. Together, they built homes from Navarre to Seagrove, earning a reputation for innovative designs and construction techniques meeting their various clients' desires. Until 2007, Sam worked in outside sales for both Gatlin Lumber & Supply Company, Inc. and Navarre Lumber & Supply, Inc.; supporting primarily residential construction located throughout the local area. In 2007, Sam moved to Tallahassee and worked for Wilderness Graphics, Inc., where he built custom exhibits for state parks, national wildlife refuges, and museums. In 2012, Sam retired to Warner Robins, GA. In 2013, to be around the water he loved, Sam and Patti bought a second home in Fort Walton Beach, located just minutes from his favorite place on Choctawhatchee Bay, the point at the Ft Walton Beach Yacht Club. They spend equal time between the Georgia and Florida homes.
Throughout his career, he found time to enjoy the coast, play softball for his favorite teams and golf. He thoroughly enjoyed both onshore and offshore waters, spending much time on the water with an extraordinary network of close friends and family. Anyone who spent time with Sam witnessed his love for life, his joyous laugh and his passion for fun.
A favorite pastime for Sam was solving any construction dilemma; his wife Patti took advantage of these talents as they together built their personal hangout, Patti Park, next to their home in Warner Robins. For Sam, a drive around the neighborhood could be an adventure, where he would find discarded materials he could repurpose into any number of useful items. He considered himself successful if he didn't spend any money in the process. Such was our man, Sam.
As an expression of sympathy, the family would appreciate and encourage you do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone or make a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) in his name.
Everyone who remembers Sam is asked to celebrate him by raising a glass of his or her favorite drink in his memory at a sunset service planned for Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Fort Walton Yacht Club at the Gazebo from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
