Samuel Leroy Quin, 69, of Summit, MS passed away June 25, 2024 at Vandervilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 1, 2024, at West McComb Baptist Church from 4 PM until 10 PM and continue Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at West McComb Baptist Church from 9 AM until services at 12 PM. Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery. Bro. Hunter Wooldridge will officiate.
Samuel was born on February 6, 1955 in McComb, MS to the late Oliver Monroe Quin and Audrey Wolbrecht Quin. His beginnings started at the Quin Dairy Farm until 2005. He worked 15 years with X/Chem and Clarient. He absolutely loved his last job, which was with MDOT. His love of horses brought him to the rodeo circuit. Sammy/Sambo, as he was called, never met a stranger. He was the kind of man that when he came in a room, he made it a point to speak to everyone. Everyone has a Sammy story to tell. He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed. Sammy loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He showed in every moment of his life that he loved everyone. He walked like Jesus walked, and he tried to be the kind of man that people saw Jesus in.
Sammy had these final things to say, "I was so looking forward to my 50th Class Reunion. I'm going to miss all of them. I'm leaving behind all my friends and family at MDOT. Thank you all for everything you have done for me. To all of my buddies at X/Chem and Clarient, I really enjoyed working with everyone."
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Sue Mote Quin; his parents; his sister, Debra Lynn Bradberry; and his close Aunt Marie Quin.
He is survived by his first wife's mother, Pearl Mote and family; his second wife, Dianne McKinley-Quin; his daughters Wendy Michelle Quin (Jason Dunaway), Samantha Lynn Davis (Michael), and Melissa Sue Quin; three stepsons Mac McKinley (Rachael), Michael McKinley (Ginger), and Ben McKinley (Shannon); twelve grandchildren Kyla Rowell (Phillip), Layla Newman, Monica Davis, Dylan Davis, Ashton Smith, Aubree Smith, Abby June Temple, Mac D. McKinley, Joseph A. McKinley, Abigail R. McKinley, Nathan E. McKinley and Katelyn M. McKinley; his brother Jimmy Quin; his sisters Rosemarry Holmes and Dawn Brumfield (Mark); along with numerous family, friends, and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Quin, Mike McCaskill, Marlin Bass, Terry Pigott, David Kehtel, Jonathan McCaskill, Lewis Guy Hutson, and Mark Statham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ashton Smith, Phillip Rowell, Willis Boyd, Jason Boyd, Daniel Boyd, Wendell Mote, Calvin Mote, Tyler Durabb, West McComb Baptist Church Watchmen, WMBC Deacons, McComb Market Breakfast Group, Vines Breakfast Group, and FitLife Gym Rats.
