Samuel J. “Sammy,” age 78, of Burns, TN, passed away November 3, 2023, at Skyline Medical Center.

Sammy was born August 30, 1945, to the late James Corbitt (J.C.) Brown, Jr. and Ruth Donegan Brown.

He was co-owner of Browns Concrete and Block Co. with his brother, Jimmy, from 1978 until the business sold in 2009.  In his retirement, Sammy, an avid horseback rider, spent much of his time with his love of 33 years, Debbie, at their favorite camping spot in Bear Branch, Illinois.  All who knew him, knew him to be a kind, gentle soul who was always there when someone or the community needed him. He was especially proud of his bonus children and grandchildren.  They all brought him great joy. He will be sorely missed.

Those left to cherish his memory, are his wife, Debbie Brown; bonus children, Michael (Julie) Ashworth, Kimberly (Brandon) Giles, and Anthony (Scarlett) Ashworth; grandchildren, Cody Ashworth, Hunter Ashworth, Landon Ashworth, Trevor Ashworth, Trey Ashworth, Jacob Glass, Vivianna Adkins, Peyton (John) Fann, and Canaan (Destiny) Wortham; and several nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Brown; and grandsons, Owen Lawrence Giles and Kyler Spicer.

For those desiring, memorials are suggested to: River Edge Farm Horse Rescue, 7022 Lick Creek Trl, Lyles, TN 37098.

A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 5:00 P.M., with a visitation with the family beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
