Samuel Triolo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCrery & Harra Funeral Home and Crematory - Kirkwood Highway on Jan. 15, 2026.
Samuel Triolo Jr., 76, passed away at his home in Wilmington on January 14, 2026. Born in Long Island, New York to Clara and Samuel Triolo Sr., he was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed to guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Sam was an avid gardener and a member of the Delaware Orchid Society. His passion for orchids and plants is what connected him to his husband, Bryan. He loved cooking, entertaining, traveling, antiquing, and collecting Wizard of Oz memorabilia. On weekends he enjoyed playing cards and sharing movie nights with his close friends.

He is mourned by his husband of 38 years (and six days), Bryan Herring Sr.; children, Bryan Jr. (Natalie), Angela (Lester) and David (Rebecca); grandchildren, Aliyah, Shay, Ariana, Blaize and Elaina. He is also survived by his two brothers, Anthony and Mark Triolo; nieces, Analyse (Sam) and Alyssa (Brad); and great-niece, Sophia. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Russel Triolo.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 6th between 8-9 a.m. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE, 19808). There will be a memorial service at 9 a.m., followed by a committal service at Delaware Veterans' Memorial Cemetery (2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701). In lieu of flowers please donate to AMVETS or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Dear Bryan,
We were all so sad to hear about Sam, just after we had the pleasure of spending time with both of you at the reunion. We hold you both in our thoughts and prayers and are grateful to have spent time with you. Your love for each other was so clear and bright; we hope that warm memories can help you to find peace.

Bryan, Dominick and I so sorry for your loss. Just meeting him briefly at our HS reunion I could see how much you both meant to each other.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for an ear to listen. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Sam, I am completely heart broken that such a kind, loving, soul like yourself is gone forever. It simply isn't fair. We were just talking to you and Bry before Christmas. "You'll be with me, like a handprint on my heart". A cousin like you doesn't come around often in a lifetime. Thank you for loving me and my husband more than we could ever love ourselves. You clicked your heels three times, went over the rainbow and are now home with our Lord.
