Samuel Reith Vanfossan, 83, of Barnard, Missouri passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his home.
Sam was born on December 27, 1941, in Barnard, Missouri to Samuel J. and Marjorie (Reith) Vanfossan. He was a 1959 graduate of South Nodaway High School and worked in computer operations for Mobil Oil in Kansas City. He retired in 1996 and returned to the Barnard area.
Sam was a member of the Barnard Christian Church. He enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, camping, and for twelve years he and his wife were winter Texans.
He married Joan D. Kelly on December 10, 1960, in Barnard, Missouri, she survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Doug (Lauren) Vanfossan, Terri (Jim) McCaffrey; three grandchildren, Samantha Vanfossan (Eric Rupp), Alex (Amber) Vanfossan and Lyle (Alyssa) Vanfossan; brother, Larry (Phyllis) Vanfossan; sister, Teena (Ron) Turnbaugh; sister-in-law, Carolyn Vanfossan and many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim Vanfossan and Ron Vanfossan, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Jean Vanfossan.
Mr. Vanfossan has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. The family will gather with friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 22nd at Price Funeral Home to visit and share memories. In memory of Sam, his family suggests memorials to the SN Forever Longhorn Scholarship, 126 McKenzie, Barnard, MO 64423.
