Samuel E. Wilder
Age 70, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024. Beloved husband of Marjorie P. (Carter) Wilder; adored son of Lillie Bee and the late Eddie Wilder; wonderful father of Andrew Wilder; step father of Lisa Payne and Michelle (husband, Anthony) Communale; also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Sam Wilder has always marched to the beat of his own music. He had a heart for God and honored Him by the spirit that radiated though his vibrant personality and his kind and loving heart. He was a model of strength, patience, and determination. He always delighted in seeing new possibilities and pursuing new interests with a proactive nature and entrepreneurial efforts. An eternal optimist, Sam would be like the child who asked his parents for a pony but was presented with only a stall brimming over with horse manure, to which he would respond, "There's got to be a pony in here somewhere!"
Sam has been such a positive influence to so many. He encouraged many couples through education on building strong marriages and families by his work with the ministry, Family Life. He would counsel with men or couples if they were struggling. When he worked in real estate, he would connect a home with the person/family not by "selling" but by "understanding." It was beyond marketing in knowing what they needed, whether it was a fresh start or a just more room for a growing family.
We celebrate his graduation to his promised reward, while simultaneously grieving the loss of this sweet, godly servant. So, we say, "Enter into your eternal rest and reward, Sam Wilder. We love you and we will meet again!"
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at Covenant Church of Pittsburgh, 2110 Andrews Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15221, (412-731-6221).
